Harubi is a free expense tracker for iPhone. Photograph a receipt, a statement screen, or a card approval text message, and it reads the date, amount and merchant on your device. No bank login. No account. No subscription.
Most budgeting apps in the US ask for two things before they will do anything: a monthly fee and your online banking credentials. YNAB, Copilot, Monarch and Rocket Money all work that way. That arrangement is fine until one of three things is true for you:
A photograph covers all three. Everything you spend leaves a paper or a pixel trail: a receipt in your pocket, the transaction list in your banking app, the approval text that arrives seconds after you tap your card. Harubi's job is to turn that into a ledger entry so you do not have to type it.
You do not pick a mode. Harubi works out what it is looking at.
Store, restaurant and grocery receipts — date, total and merchant name. This is how cash spending gets recorded.

What Harubi reads goes to a review screen first, never straight into your ledger. Tap any amount, description, date or category to correct it, and untick rows you do not want. Share a screenshot to Harubi from another app and it will be waiting for you the next time you open Harubi.

Receipt and statement formats are recognised for the United States, Germany, South Korea, the Philippines and Japan. The interface is available in English, German, Korean and Filipino, with USD, EUR, KRW and PHP as currencies.
Free. All of it. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads, no tracking, and no feature that turns out to be locked later.
For completeness: on launch the app asks Apple whether a newer version is on the App Store. That request carries the app's bundle identifier plus a country and language code — never your transactions.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No, and you could not if you wanted to. Harubi has no bank connection feature. It reads receipts and screenshots instead.
Does it track cash spending?
Yes — this is the main reason to use it. Photograph the receipt and the cash purchase is recorded like any other.
Are my receipt photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Recognition happens on your iPhone and the image is not stored or sent afterwards. The single exception is if you choose to report a misread image to the developer: that opens a pre-filled mail draft that you must send yourself.
What if it reads something wrong?
Correct it on the review screen before saving. Every field is tappable.
Where are my backups kept?
On this device. You can see the list under Settings → Management → ‘Back up & restore your entries’, and they are removed together with Harubi if you delete the app. So use ‘Share a backup’ to save the file to the Files app or email it to yourself. When you change devices or reinstall the app, only a file you have shared can be used.
How do I move to a new iPhone?
Nothing moves across on its own — you take the backup file with you. Share the file from your old iPhone, then tap ‘Restore’ in Harubi on the new one and pick that file; your entries come back as they were. Recurring expenses and installment plans are included. Photos and videos attached to memos are not, and restoring replaces the entries already on that device.
Is there an iPad or Apple Watch version?
Not at the moment. Harubi is iPhone-only and needs iOS 17 or later.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is nothing to buy.
